About Heartuned

Children borrow our calm

Heartuned started in the room with real families. As a Licensed School Counselor, Lauren understood co-regulation inside and out. What she kept meeting were parents who understood their children completely, and who still could not reach a word of it on the school run.

The turning point was simple, and it surprised her every time it worked. It was not a new technique. It was helping a parent settle their own nervous system first, and only then offer that calm to their child. Everything followed from that order. So she turned it into a method, and then into Heartuned.

The method behind Heartuned

Lauren Haas, MA, LSC, NCC is the creator of the Heartuned curriculum. She built the whole program on approaches that have helped families for decades, and then did the hard part: she translated them into plain words a tired parent can use at bedtime.

  • A Master's in Counseling, and currently a PhD student in Counseling.
  • Licensed School Counselor and Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in Oregon.
  • A practitioner trained in EMDR and informed by nervous-system-based, somatic, attachment-focused, and regulation-centered approaches. EMDR training in particular shaped how she understands the link between the nervous system, emotions and healing.
  • 3+ years working directly with children and families, in school and counseling settings, around emotional regulation, attachment, behavior, and relational well-being.
  • Attachment research, on why connection is what makes kids feel safe enough to settle.
  • Dr. Dan Siegel's hand model of the brain, made simple enough to teach a four-year-old.

She has sat with enough families to know none of this is tidy. Heartuned is an educational program rather than counseling, and it does not replace care from a licensed provider where you live. It is not about being a perfect parent. It is about being a steady one, more often, and knowing how to come back when you miss.

What we believe

You are a good parent

Having a hard time does not change that. We start from your good intentions, never from blame.

Repair beats perfect

Every close relationship has ruptures. Coming back is the skill that actually matters.

Practical, always

Every lesson ends with something to do, not just an idea to admire. Theory you cannot use is just noise.
